Best Books for a Baby Shower or New Babe :)

I get asked this question a LOT. Many of you know my love of early literacy runs DEEP and babies are no exception. In fact, books can be an incredible motivator for floor mobility including lifting their head, pressing through their arms, turning their head both directions, and visual discrimination.

The books below are from my PaperPie Book Shop :) I earn a commission on each book sold at no additional cost to you. If you're anything like me, you're spoiled by Amazon prime free shipping--so Iโ€™m excited to tell you we now offer $7 flat rate shippingโ€”which is amazing for a heavy box of books! Consider stowing some away for later birthdays or holidays!

  1. Fold-out Animals:

ALL of the foldouts are my absolute favorite tummy time motivator--helping with lifting the head and looking both directions! And eventually pivoting! Adore! We even have this Christmas one too :)

  2. Clip-On Book:

I am forever looking for things babe can play with in the stroller or carseat that cannot get chucked out every 5 seconds :)

  3. Tummy Time Book:

This one is so soft that even if babe knocks it over, no harm done! I love that it can be great for tummy time looking in the mirror but also can be used as a regular soft book (car-safe too!)

  4. Crinkle Pets:

It crinkles and is high-contrast...need I say more?

  5. Mirror Book:

Unlike other mirror books we've had in the past, this mirror actually WORKS. Babe is motivated to book share by seeing their "buddy" each time they do :)

  6. High Contrast Fold-Out:

All the goodness of a fold-out book with the added bonus of being high contrast, which is super enticing for itty bitty babies. I also adore this farm version.

7. Crinkle Jungle:

This crinkle book is also high-contrast + folds out. I love this for car trips or stroller rides!

8. That's Not My...:

We have a version of this for pretty much every favorite animal you might have! Each page has fun little sensory components that not only help with sensory processing but also with eventual naming of body parts and textures.

9. Motor Milestone + Purposeful Play Cards:

Every parent looks at their baby at some point and thinks: what am I supposed to be doing with you?! Each of these cards gives a motor milestone with the range they're expect in + 3 ways to play in order to promote that skill! A GREAT gift for a first-time parent.

10. Fold-Out Colors:

This is another great fold-out book that teaches colors :)

11. Twinkly Bedtime Book:

The soft glow of this book is perfect for bedtime routine.

I always love to see your babes "reading" the books from my shop. Be sure to tag me @themovementmama or shoot me a message letting me know what you think!
