Gift Guide for the Baby Who Hates Tummy Time
Did you know tummy down time was so crucial even through toddlerhood (and I would argue postpartum motherhood, too?) Believe it or not: tummy down time still has ALL the same benefits as it did when they were sweet little babes.
Some benefits of Tummy Time include:
- Improves stability of head, neck, shoulder, and trunk
- Enhances visual and vestibular (inner ear balance system)
- Supports postural stability required for higher level motor movements
Toddler tummy time is a great way to continue to strengthen your tot’s foundational muscles and is particularly important if you’ve got a little one who is still struggling with poor posture or coordination! It’s also a functional way to continue practicing transitional movements like rolling, pivoting, crawling, and pressing up to sit or stand!
And remember that tummy time is a no cry zone! We want to keep this fun and engaging. Grab a drawing mat and mess free markers, toy cars, or a favorite book to entertain your little one!
